A 25-year-old Edmonton man has been charged with impaired driving causing death after one of his passengers passed away in hospital.

Edmonton police say Clarence Hekungua had two passengers onboard a BMW driving eastbound on Highway 28A, when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign at Manning Drive before rolling in a nearby field.

Two days after the October 10th rollover, a 25-year-old man died in hospital. A 29-year-old woman was also injured in the collision.

Hekungua has been charged with numerous crimes including impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.

This is Edmonton’s 30th traffic fatality of the year.
