Alberta Health Services has now confirmed that 122 people have fallen ill from E. Coli in Alberta in the last month, a massive increase from the 96 cases in Alberta in all of last year.

Health officials still don’t know what’s behind the outbreak, but they have been able to determine that 80% of the people who have gotten sick ate at Asian food restaurants in the province recently, but despite that, they are not able to confirm that this the cause.

“I have a tough time trying to remember what I ate last week, and when we ask people what they've eaten over the last two weeks every single day, it's a challenging process.” Dr. Chris Sikora, AHS Medical Officer of Health said Wednesday.

So far, 17 people have been hospitalized as a result of the outbreak. Alberta Health Services has posted more information about E. Coli symptoms and treatment on their website.
