An eight-month investigation into the disappearance of an Ontario woman and her daughter resulted in the arrest of an Alberta man on August 19, Waterloo Regional Police said.

Linda Daniel, 47, and Cheyenne Daniel, 13, disappeared in July 2011 from Wellesley Township of the Regional Municipality of Waterloo, Ontario.

In December 2015, family members told Waterloo police that the mother and daughter were still missing.

In cooperation with RCMP in Alberta, Waterloo police identified and arrested Glenn Bauman in Valleyview, Alberta on a Canada-wide warrant.

In a press release, police said Bauman, 43, was in a common law relationship with Linda Daniel at the time of her disappearance.

Bauman was transported to Waterloo where he appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice via video on August 22.

Bauman is facing two counts of first degree murder and causing indignity to the bodies, police said.

The victims' bodies have not been found.

Detectives will continue to investigate the circumstances of the murders and are asking anyone with insight into the case to contact them at 519-653-7700, or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
