“There are over a thousand jobs available through the various employers that will be here,” said spokesperson Kent McLeod.

Alberta’s unemployment rate rose to 8.6 per cent in August—the highest since September 1994. “Despite the fact there have been some layoffs and unemployment is higher, there are still a lot of jobs out there right now,” said McLeod.

Career coaches are available to consult with workers on how their skills can transfer to an alternate career.

The career fair is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
