Edmonton police said Tuesday that they were asking for help in tracking down a man believed to have been involved in the alleged kidnapping of a woman early Sunday morning.

Police said officers were called to the area of 104 Street and 24 Avenue Sunday at about 2:20 a.m., on reports of the alleged kidnapping of a 23-year-old woman.

It was reported to investigators that the suspect tried to kidnap the woman, after she was dropped off at home from work – she fought back and managed to escape, while a witness called police.

After that, it was reported the suspect then used a stolen vehicle to chase the witness and the woman as they drove away from the area. EPS Air-1 was then called in to help officers trying to track the suspect vehicle – police said the suspect, while driving the stolen car tried to intimidate the people inside the other vehicle, ramming the other car several times.

Police said at times, both of the cars were travelling at speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour.

The pursuit continued to the area of 80 Avenue and Gateway Boulevard, where the suspect vehicle collided with a power box, and the people in the other car found a marked police car that was in the area to help.

After crashing into the power box, the suspect vehicle was followed by the police helicopter into the Whyte Avenue area, and police pulled in – but the suspect vehicle took off, the driver eventually abandoned the vehicle in the area of 104 Street and 81 Avenue.

The suspect fled on foot, and police lost track of him in the pedestrian traffic on Whyte Avenue.

Now, Kemol Creary, 25, is facing arrest warrants for criminal hit and run, kidnapping, assault, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, criminal flight, two counts of breach of emergency protection order, possession of stolen property over $5,000, and four counts of breach of recognizance.

Creary is described as:

  • 178 cm (5’10”)
  • Weighs about 104 kg (230 lbs)
  • Black hair
  • Brown eyes

EPS said Creary is considered dangerous, and has access to firearms – anyone who sees him is asked to call police immediately, and should not approach him.
