A 54-year-old B.C. man is dead after a semi-truck hit a ditch and rolled over west of Edmonton.

Edson RCMP say they were called to Highway 32 about a kilometre south of Peers, Alta. just before 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Police say the semi-truck had entered into the west ditch of the highway, causing it to roll over and spill its load of lumber.

The 54-year-old driver of the semi-truck was pronounced dead on scene.

Highway 32 had been closed for a period of time as crews worked to remove the highway of debris.

The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Police say no other vehicles were involved in the collision, and while the investigation is ongoing, no charges are expected to be laid.

Peers, Alta. is located about 180 kiliometres west of Edmonton, near Edson.
