The Oilers Community Foundation made a big donation to Edmonton’s Food Bank Friday, including a new, refrigerated food truck.

The foundation presented a cheque for $185,074 to the Food Bank Friday – and announced that the donation also includes food truck for the organization

The truck, which is still being built, will be capable of holding 8,000 pounds of food, and will include six pallets of school-snack food for the new school year.

The new vehicle will be a welcome addition to the Food Bank.

“That’s going to be instrumental for us to pick up the fresh produce, the frozen food around the city, and being able to bring it back to our warehouse safely,” Tamisan Bencz-Knight, with the Food Bank, said.

The Oilers Community Foundation said it has donated more than $2.8 million to local charities this year.
