RCMP say human remains have been found inside a home destroyed by fire Monday morning.

Crews arrived at a home, located in Boyle, Alberta (approximately 160 kilometers NE of Edmonton) around 10:00 a.m. Monday morning.

Firefighters from Boyle and neighbouring communities of Athabasca and Colinton battled the blaze for a number of hours before bringing it under control.

Crews searching the residence found human remains in the debris.

RCMP and forensics investigators are at the scene to try to determine the cause of the fire, while the Edmonton Medical Examiner's Office works to identify the remains.

More to come.
