The Elk Island Catholic School Board has voted to make some big changes to its schools in a portion of Strathcona County for the next school year.

The board voted this week to reconfigure schools in Sherwood Park – to establish a middle school concept in the city.

The changes will mean a number of area schools will see changes in order to create a new St. Theresa Catholic School with students in Grades 5 to 8 - including the Ukrainian Bilingual Program.

Another school – a new Archbishop Jordan Catholic High School – will also come of the changes, and have students in Grades 9 to 12.

In addition, Jean Vanier Catholic School and Madonna Catholic School will be configured to have Kindergarten to Grade 4 students, and Holy Spirit Catholic School will have students from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

A full breakdown of the changes can be found online.
