RCMP west of Edmonton have arrested and charged a man, for his alleged role in the shooting death of another man back in September.

Evansburg RCMP said investigators from their detachment and the RCMP Major Crimes Branch have investigated the death of Benjamin Orest Kravetz, 61 for the last four and a half months.

The investigation began after Kravetz was reported missing on Sept. 14, 2012, and then found dead less than two weeks later in the Lobstick River near Evansburg.

An autopsy was conducted on Sept. 24, which confirmed Kravetz died as a result of gunshot wounds.

On Friday, RCMP said 67-year-old Eugene Albert Fleider, also of Evansburg, was arrested Thursday.

Flieder is facing charges of second degree murder and indignity to a body.

The accused remains in custody, and is expected to make a court appearance on Feb. 11 in an Evansburg courtroom.
