A child is in the hospital after a collision south of Edmonton Saturday morning.

RCMP responded to a collision on Highway 2 at the intersection with Highway 604 south of Ponoka at approximately 9:43 a.m. after a van carrying four people blew a tire, collided with a dump truck and rolled.

A child was transported to the University of Alberta hospital by STARTS with serious but non-life threatening injuries, RCMP said. Another occupants was taken to the Ponoka Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. The other two occupants were treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the dump truck was not injuries, police said.

Traffic was disrupted during the investigation, but all lanes have re-opened since.
