A park in south Terwillegar has been named in honour of Constable Dan Woodall, an Edmonton Police officer killed in the line of duty.

The park, located at 7304 South Terwillegar Drive, is called Constable Dan Woodall Park. The city says it's new and still in development but will have a soccer field, baseball diamond and playground.

"It is a privilege for the City of Edmonton to honour Constable Dan Woodall in this way,” said Mayor Don Iveson. “His example of bravery, his commitment to this community and his abiding love of family and sport will be remembered for years to come.”

Constable Woodall was killed in the line of duty on June 8, 2015.

Statement from Claire Woodall:

I am so honoured that the city has not only decided to permanently honour my husband, but to do so by building a park.
Somewhere where his children, and ALL children can play.

The fact that it will be local for my children is also great. It shows the thought that was put into this. I know they will play there often.

We can't wait for the finished results!
Thank  you,

Claire, Gabe and Callen.
