The family of Colleen Sillito is calling on the Alberta Government to hold a public inquiry after police say she was killed by her ex-fiance last week in Fort Saskatchewan.

The family released a statement saying they are “filled with questions about how such a horror could happen.” The family says Sillito obtained a peace bond and called the RCMP many times when it was violated.

The 46-year-old woman was found dead on a driveway in Fort Saskatchewan last Friday.

Investigators say the mother of five was shot by 54-year-old Paul Jacob before he took his own life with the same firearm.

Sillito’s family wants the province to hold a public inquiry into the number of domestic homicides in Alberta. "We hope other women will not have to lose their lives so needlessly and other children will not have to lose their mothers so horribly."
