Less than a day after police were called to a southwest Edmonton neighbourhood, after a single-vehicle collision, where the driver later died – EPS said the crash was non-criminal.

On Wednesday afternoon at about 1:30 p.m., a black SUV had jumped the curb and hit a fire hydrant in the area of 62B Avenue and 183 Street.

Witnesses reported the driver of the vehicle had been bleeding from the neck. The driver was rushed to hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

In the hours following the crash, police could be seen canvassing the neighbourhood as they investigated the collision.

On Thursday morning, an EPS spokesperson told CTV News the collision was deemed to be non-criminal.
