While police continue to investigate the weekend death of a teenaged boy on the Samson First Nation, the results of the autopsy have been released.

Investigators from the Red Deer Major Crimes Unit, along with help from members from Hobbema and Wetaskiwin RCMP said Monday’s autopsy concluded the death of a 16-year-old male was murder.

The investigation began after officers were called to a home on a firearms complaint, at the Samson First Nation at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday.

Police arrived to find the teenaged boy suffering from gunshot wounds – he was rushed to hospital but didn’t survive.

The incident is not believed to be random, and investigators are working to determine if it is gang-related.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hobbema RCMP, or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-422-TIPS (8477).
