The United Nurses of Alberta said Thursday that registered nurses who work at a south side care facility voted overwhelmingly in favour of an agreement reached earlier this week.

UNA announced an agreement had been reached earlier this week – but that the fifteen registered nurses who work at the Devonshire Care Centre needed to ratify the agreement with a vote.

The members of UNA Local 417 vote took place Thursday, near the Devonshire Care Centre.

Union officials said the three-year agreement includes 4 per cent pay raises in the first year, and then 3 per cent in the second and third years.

The union said the raises will bring the wages paid up to par with the UNA’s provincial wage rates.

The agreement was reached with the employer, Park Place Seniors Living, with the assistance of a provincially appointed mediator.

The ratification means the strike that began on New Year’s Eve is officially over.
