RCMP said four people were facing a total of 91 charges in connection to a fraud and theft investigation that uncovered items stolen from a number of Alberta communities.

Police were called to a hotel at the Edmonton International Airport on August 11, after a credit card fraud in progress was called in.

Four people were arrested in connection to the incident. Police searched the suspects’ vehicles, and found stolen credit cards, pieces of identification, computers and mail.

RCMP said the investigation led officers to recover property from thefts in Sylvan Lake, Stettler, Red Deer and Camrose.

Now, three people from Sylvan Lake have been charged, the fourth person who was arrested in this case was released without charges.

  • Chance Muranaka, 44, is facing 70 counts of theft and property charges
  • Travis Muranaka, 40, faces 14 counts of theft, property and drug offences
  • Melissa Bowie, 27, is facing seven counts of possession of property

Travis and Chance Muranaka have been remanded in custody, scheduled to appear in court September 14.

Bowie has been released on conditions, and she’s also scheduled to appear in court September 14.
