After a fatal collision left one man lying dead on a busy road on the city’s south side, and caused major traffic delays that morning – and by the end of the day police said the driver of the vehicle involved had been charged.

Edmonton police said Wednesday afternoon that the woman who had been driving the pickup truck involved is facing two impaired driving charges – the name of the driver cannot be released due to a publication ban, police said.

Just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, a man who police said is believed to be 25-years-old, was hit by a pickup truck on the 23 Avenue on-ramp on Gateway Boulevard.

The roadway was closed to traffic until about 9 a.m.
