Edmonton police have laid charges against a man who was driving the car that is believed to have struck and injured an elderly woman, who died later in hospital.

Police said Bradley Nordell, 42, is facing charges of careless driving, and failing to yield to a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

Back on Saturday, May 31 at about 4:20 p.m., police said a 73-year-old woman had entered a marked crosswalk and was crossing the merge lane, northbound, near the 95 Avenue and 170 Street intersection.

Police said a truck headed eastbound on 95 Avenue turned right, into the merge lane, and hit the woman.

Paramedics treated and rushed the woman to hospital in serious condition – she succumbed to her injuries and died in hospital early the next morning.

The driver was not injured.
