St. Albert RCMP said Tuesday that an officer, heading to a high school in that city, came across two students who were found to have drugs and drug paraphernalia in their possession.

RCMP said the officer was on his way to a local school at about 8 a.m. Tuesday, to teach DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), when he noticed two teen girls near an outdoor arena, and detected the odour of marijuana.

Police said he approached the pair, and seized 24 baggies of marijuana, and a bong, from them.

The marijuana was packaged the same way drug dealers prepare drugs for sale.

The two girls – who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act – are younger than 18-years-old and students at the high school, and police said they were “being dealt with” by police, their high school and their parents.
