Precipitation fell as light rain overnight and early this morning in the Capital Region.
However, there’s 15-20cm of snow on the ground further west in areas near Hinton.
There’s also snow falling and accumulating just north of Edmonton and THAT is the snow we’ll see in the city later today.
The heaviest snow (10-20cm) is still expected to stay north of the City of Edmonton.  Snowfall warnings and Winter Storm warnings remain in effect for most of north-Central Alberta.  (You can find up-to-the-minute warning information on the CTV Edmonton Weather App)

Wind will swing around the the NW later today and that’ll start to push the snow back into the Capital Region from the NNW.  Initially, it’ll start as a rain/snow mix and then it’ll flip fully over to snow (likely this afternoon).  It will melt on contact for a while and then start accumulating (especially on grassy areas).
The snow is expected to continue tonight and then should slide east of the Edmonton area Thursday morning.
By then...we’ll probably have 3-8cm of snow on the ground.
