A broad Upper Ridge settles in across Alberta for a few days.
Beneath that ridge, we'll continue to get sun for most of the day & afternoon temperatures in the mid to high 20s.

That ridge won't completely eliminate the thunderstorm risk.  But...it will diminish it somewhat.
Just a slight risk of isolated & scattered late-day thunderstorms in the Edmonton area over the next few days.
Monday evening, it all stayed south of the city and MOST of today's activity will be well south of the Capital Region as well.
Storms are expected to fire up in the southern foothills & then move east affecting areas from about Red Deer south.

However, the Upper Ridge won't last forever & it looks like it'll collapse either Friday or Saturday.
When it does...we could be in for some powerful thunderstorms.
And...once an Upper Low moves in to take over (either Saturday or Sunday), the pattern will shift to cooler and cloudier.
At this point, there's almost no way to be time-specific about the chance of showers.
Once we get to Thursday, we should start to get a better picture on when & how much rain is coming.
At this point...the forecast is:   Mostly cloudy & a very good chance of showers Saturday & Sunday.

Will it rain ALL weekend?  Probably not.
Will both Saturday AND Sunday have at least SOME showers.  Yes, more likely than not.
Is it possible the Upper Low doesn't develop & we end up with a sunny & hot weekend? Very Unlikely.

Here's the other thing that might happen.  We're working on a streak here & it may come to an end this weekend.
Today will be the 39th consecutive day with the temperature hitting at least 20 degrees.
That's only been done three times in the past 25 years.
We had 48 consecutive 20-degree days in 1991.
2002 had 41 & 2006 had 40.
If we can get through this weekend with a high of 20 or better on Sunday, we should beat 48.
But...it's looking like the streak might end at 43.
More on this later today....
