A line of showers snuck into the Capital Region early this morning & just ahead of that line, a nasty little thunderstorm popped up over the NE corner of the city around 3-4AM.

There were also isolated thunderstorms near Evansburg, Barrhead & Sangudo.
But as the day goes on...skies will gradually clear & we're in for a beautiful Friday afternoon.
Temperatures will jump into the mid 20s again, wind will stay light & the humidity will be fairly low.

However, we're setting up for a potential repeat performance of those nocturnal/early morning thunderstorms.
A bit of an upper trough will sweep through northern Alta tonight.  At the southern edge of that (which should be right around Edmonton), we'll get some showers & thunderstorms.  The time frame for those looks to (once again) be between midnight & 6am Saturday.
So, if you're heading the Esks game or the EFMF (or any of the other events going on in the city), the weather will cooperate this evening.

Any showers or thunderstorms we DO get will move out quickly tomorrow morning & the Capital Region will be under partly cloudy skies for most of the weekend.
Highs will be in the low to mid 20s & neither wind, nor humidity will be factors.

Early next week, an upper low dives in.  We're still in the 20s ahead that system Monday, but watch for some thunderstorms late Monday.
That'll turn to a chance of showers on Tuesday (especially early in the day) & temperatures will drop into the high teens for Tuesday.
It DOES appear that this'll be a short-lived cooldown though.
Temperatures are expected to return to near 20 by Wed & the low to mid 20s for Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun (Aug 16-19th)
