July will end with another day of heat.
In fact, it took until the 29th of July to hit 30, but this will end up as the 4th warmest July on record for Edmonton.
I'll write more about that in tomorrow's WxBlog.

Looking ahead to August, the new month should start warmer than average with daytime highs in the 25-30 range this weekend & next week.

The Upper Ridge continues to dominate the weather pattern.
Although that ridge has kept most of the province free of storms, there have been a couple thunderstorms.
The Fort McMurray area got hit hard late Wednesday night.  Early this morning, a storm moved through the Grande Prairie area.
There was also a 6am storm near Westlock this morning.

The greatest storm risk for today is in Northern Alberta (especially the NE again).  Fort McMurray could get another big storm later today.
We'll also see some foothills storms pop up later this afternoon.
If the Edmonton area's going to get anything, it'll be overnight or early Friday morning.

Long Weekend Outlook:
Staying warm.  Temperatures will be in the mid to high 20s for most of the province.
Dewpoints should be in the low to mid teens.  So, not AS sticky as the past few days, but still FEELING about 3 degrees hotter than the thermometer reads.

It's still looking like the foothills & southern Alberta are the most likely spots for some showers & thunderstorms Saturday.
The pattern doesn't change much from today through to Monday.
The Upper Ridge weakens slightly (especially in the north), but it should still be strong enough to prevent any major outbreak of storms.
So, MOST of the weekend looks dry for MOST of the province.  But, there will be some spotty thunderstorms that pop up in a couple spotty.
Given that sort of "hit & miss" setup, it's impossible to predict exactly where those storms will be from this many days out.
