CTV News has learned a man who was charged last week with several counts related to a marijuana grow-op bust, is a local firefighter, and he's since been pulled from front-line duty.

A deputy fire chief confirmed the news Monday, that the man charged last week is Edmonton firefighter Najeeb (Jeebo) Manah, 33.

"On March 7, one of our firefighters was arrested for drug-related charges," Deputy Fire Chief John Lamb said. "At this time, it's important to know that public trust is very important to Edmonton Fire Rescue,

"Anything that brings that into question, we take very seriously."

Edmonton Fire Rescue told CTV News Manah has been pulled from any duties that would put him in the public eye.

Manah faces four drug-related charges, in relation to the marijuana grow operation – which was estimated to be worth about $500,000.

He has been scheduled to appear in court on March 22.
