Officers with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) said a search in a Lethbridge apartment suite led investigators to uncover cocaine, cash and weapons – and an Edmonton man is facing charges.

ALERT said Mahmoud Nafal, 27, from Edmonton was arrested August 6, without incident.

Investigators with ALERT Lethbridge executed a search warrant at an apartment block, and seized nearly $30,000 worth of cocaine, $30,000 in cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime, two pepper spray canisters, and drug-trafficking paraphernalia.

As a result, Nafal is facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, drug possession, possession of a dangerous weapon and three counts of possession of the proceeds of crime.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court September 5.
