An Edmonton man on parole faces multiple charges after a single vehicle collision near Leduc.

On May 30, Leduc RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 2 northbound just north of Highway 19.

A 2007 Land Rover had struck a lamp post and slammed into a fence.

Police say the vehicle was destroyed beyond repair and that the driver had fled the scene on foot.

The driver was found passed out in a ditch about a kilometre east of the scene.

Police determined the man was a parolee recently released from prison.

He was transported to the University of Alberta Hospital with minor injuries.

Nadir Kassam, 53, has been charged with failing to stop, careless driving, and possession of the proceeds of crime.

Police say he has since been re-committed to prison and will appear in Leduc Provincial Court on August 16.
