The Edmonton Oilers made a big trade Wednesday afternoon as they sent all-star left winger Taylor Hall to the New Jersey Devils for shutdown defenceman Adam Larsson. The move has been met with much criticism on social media especially locally.

In Larsson, the Oilers get a right shot defenceman which they have been in search of as long as General Manager Peter Chiarelli has been in Edmonton. The Swedish defender and former fouth overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft has played 274 regular season games, all with the Devils. He played all 82 games last season scoring three goals, 15 assists and averaged over 22 minutes per game.

Taylor Hall's name had been in trade rumours for a few seasons as the Oilers were never able to make the playoffs during his six seasons in Edmonton. The speedy scoring winger and former first overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft will be a nice addition to the Devils who had been in the market for more scoring. Hall had 132 goals and 328 points in 381 with the Oilers.
