An Edmonton Olympian is getting a more permanent reminder of her success in Rio.

Team Canada's Rugby Sevens captain Jen Kish led her team to a bronze medal this summer – an accomplishment so meaningful that it calls for new ink.

“I think the Olympic tattoo will always be that very special tattoo on my body,” Kish told CTV Edmonton. “It was the biggest achievement that I’ve had in my life in sport.”

Kish’s left calf now – and forever – illustrates the Olympic rings, with the games’ torch, location and date – even though she will never forget her time in Rio.

“Every piece is an experience that I’ve gone through, so they all mean something to me,” Kish said.

Her passion for tattoos and rugby go hand-in-hand, as the ink represents her career accomplishments where it all started over a decade ago.

“At 16, I got the Rugby Canada logo,” Kish said. “The reason why I got it is because I always wanted to play for Canada, and the fact that I was able to make a national team when I was 16 was a huge achievement to me.”

And now at 28, Kish captained her team to the podium, came home a hero, and of course, got fresh ink.

“It’s full circle for me. It’s a dream. I dreamed about going to the Olympics, and now that I have, I want something on my body that represents this achievement.”
