Edmonton police are investigating after three men were found shot on the city’s northside.

Officials said two of the victims wandered into the Dollarama store at the Manning Town Centre around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

A police cruiser in the area followed a suspicious vehicle as it drove away from the area and they were able to safely stop it at 195 Avenue and 66 Street.

“We did a box-in maneuver. The vehicle stopped and the driver gave up,” Insp. Brian Nolan explained.

“In that vehicle there was a quantity of blood. There are a lot of what appear to be bullet holes in that vehicle and we recovered a handgun in that vehicle as well.”

Insp. Nolan said a third shooting victim walked into the Northeast Medical Clinic not far from the shopping centre.

Two of the victims were said to be in critical condition, but expected to survive, while the third suffered minor injuries.

Police said the victims were all males believed to be in their mid-to-late 20s.

“I can suggest to you that this is a group that are all aware of each other based on the interior of the vehicle that we seized, the quantity of blood in it,” Insp. Nolan said.

“I can tell you the driver was not injured. In all likelihood one or more of these three people that were shot were at one time inside that vehicle.”

Insp. Nolan said they believed they had everyone involved in the incident accounted for but were still trying to determine what led up to the shootings.
