Three people were sent to hospital after shots rang out in the city’s core over the weekend.

On Saturday, May 23 at about 2:20 a.m. police responded to a weapons complaint outside a nightclub in the area of 100 Street and Jasper Avenue.

According to police there was an altercation between two individuals when shots were allegedly fired. It was reported the suspects fled the area, one on foot and the other in a vehicle. EPS officials say they do not believe the shooting was random.

Three bystanders sustained non-life threatening injuries during the altercation. Two males, aged 23 and 35-years-old, and a 31-year-old female were treated and taken to hospital by EMS. All three are now in stable condition.

Police say a second fight took place east of the nightclub during the time of the shooting, but are still investigating any connection between the two incidents.
