Police west of Edmonton are investigating, after a man in his 40s succumbed to injuries he suffered in a vicious attack days before.

Edson RCMP said early Wednesday, November 11, officers were called to a reported assault at the Moose Creek Hotel in Edson.

When police arrived, they found paramedics were treating Preston Goulet, 42, who had sustained serious injuries.

Goulet was taken to hospital.

Later that day, RCMP arrested and charged Christopher Ronald Edward Harrison, 37, with aggravated assault.

On Sunday, police said Goulet passed away in hospital – investigators are waiting for an autopsy to be scheduled.
