Crews have managed to put out a house fire in Edmonton’s west end.
Fire fighters responded to the call from 9731 164 Street around noon Tuesday.
“On arrival heavy smoke was showing,” Cpt. John Yaschuk explained.
“There were two elderly occupants who were home at the time of the fire. Both got out without any injury,” he added.
Officials said they had trouble reaching the source of the blaze, which was in the basement of the home.
“There’s substantial damage to the basement. That’s where the fire originated,” Cpt. Yaschuk confirmed.
Investigators are still looking for a cause but say the fire is not suspicious.
Damage is estimated to be about $200,000.
