Edmonton police said Tuesday that a long-time member has been charged in the wake of an incident that reportedly took place over two years ago.
Police said Det. Thomas Wilson is facing one count of assault relating to an incident that unfolded in April 2011, between Wilson and another EPS member.
The charge comes after an investigation by the EPS Professional Standards Branch, which was also reviewed by Alberta Justice.
Wilson has been suspended without pay, both as a result of the charge and another unrelated internal incident that’s under investigation by EPS.
