Edmonton police said one of their own officers was facing a number of charges, related to an incident dating back to November, 2014.
EPS said Const. Eric Vezina was charged with three counts of assault stemming from an incident at a nightclub when he was off-duty.
Police said Vezina had been relieved from duty without pay due to the incident – he has been a member of EPS for one year.
The EPS Professional Standards Branch carried out an investigation that led to the charges.
