Edmonton police said Thursday that detectives were taking over the investigation into the death of a man, whose body was found in a rural area northeast of Edmonton in late March.

EPS said the body of London Williams, 21, was found Monday, March 24 in a rural area in the County of Smoky Lake.

Since RCMP began their investigation into Williams’ death, Edmonton Police Service investigators have identified a connection between that case, and the homicide of Ibrahim Yousef Chehimi, 34, on Tuesday, January 21 in Edmonton.

Chehimi was shot and killed outside of a downtown pub, at the time it was alleged a confrontation between two groups had started inside the establishment before the groups headed outside, and the situation escalated. One other individual sustained minor injuries.

As a result, Edmonton police have taken over the investigation into Williams’ death – although EPS detectives are investigating with help from RCMP.

Police said the location where Williams was found is still under investigation – the cause of death will not be released.

Anyone with information on either death is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.
