Edmonton police are asking for help from the public to identify the suspect, weeks after a break and enter, and attempted sexual assault in a southeast Edmonton home.

Back on Tuesday, June 10, at about 1:30 a.m., police said a man entered a home near 20 Avenue and 49 Street, while the people inside were sleeping.

Police said the complainant was a woken when the suspect entered the master bedroom, and threatened to sexually assault the woman – his head and face were concealed.

The woman managed to fight off her attacker, and escape the home along with the other people inside, but the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as being an average size male, who was wearing blue jeans, a dark hooded jacket, black boots, black gloves and a dark coloured balaclava/ski mask, at the time of the incident.

Police are renewing their call for assistance in trying to identify the suspect.

“The public often plays a key role in helping to solve some of our investigations, so we want to formally appeal to the general public regarding this crime, which will hopefully generate some meaningful leads for our investigation,” Det. Marci Koshowski, with the EPS Sexual Assault Section, said in a press release.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call the Edmonton Police Service non-emergency line at 780-423-4567 or #377 on a mobile phone.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
