Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) seized more than a half million dollars’ worth of illegal drugs from four Edmonton and area homes, including more than 1,800 fentanyl pills.

In a news release, ALERT Edmonton says that an integrated team of Edmonton Police and RCMP members arrested five people allegedly responsible for inter-provincial drug transportation using vehicles outfitted with hidden compartments.

Search warrants were issued at four Edmonton and one Redwater, Alberta homes on February 3 and March 18.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized was in excess off $545,000 and included: 2.6 kilograms of cocaine, 1,841 fentanyl pills, 1 kilogram of methamphetamine and 468 grams of MDMA.

Three SUVs with customized hidden compartments, two firearms and $91,000 in cash were also part of the seizure.

The five people arrested by ALERT are facing at least 30 drug-related criminal charges are: Oran Grant Soanes, 26, Mitchell Fortin, 25, Cleveland Black, 19, Adrian Cambiazo, 20, Natasha Ponzey, 19.
