A blaze in southwest Edmonton destroyed at least one home Monday morning.

The call came shortly after 6:00 a duplex home on fire, in the area of 127th St. and 41 Ave.

Fire crews arrived to find one duplex fully engulfed in flames. The house to the east was also heavily damaged. Crews add that a gas line was briefly ruptured but was turned off a short time later.

There are no reports of injuries. It appears that the buildings were still under-construction and had no occupants.

Edmonton Fire Rescue said the fires caused an estimated $250,000 in damages, with the property where the fire started suffering fire damages, and four surrounding homes showing signs of damage caused by exposure to the fire.

Investigators have notified police, and believe the fire is suspicious.
