Officials with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team said a Fort McMurray man had been arrested and charged, following allegations he tried to arrange for sex with an underage girl.
ALERT said Jason Arthur Laurier, 30, was arrested inside a Fort McMurray hotel – where the accused thought he was meeting a 13-year-old girl for sex – he was taken into custody June 27.
Investigators said the accused had been soliciting for sex online – and he had thought he was conversing with an underage girl, propositioning for sex with explicit messages, but it was actually an ALERT investigator.
Now, Laurier is facing 13 charges including making child pornography, attempted sexual assault, attempted sexual interference, attempted procuring, and nine counts of luring.
It’s believed there may be more victims in the Fort McMurray area, anyone who may have more information on this case, or any other child exploitation offence is asked to call their local police, or Crime Stoppers.
