A car made an unexpected stop inside a barber shop in north Edmonton Tuesday evening.

The crash happened shortly before 6:00pm, next to the office of Alberta's Deputy Premier, at 12116 161 Avenue.

A car crashed through the front windows of the business and came to rest against an interior wall. A stylist and a client were directly in the car's path, but neither was seriously hurt.

"The person in the chair, that was injured, was knocked five or six feet and the person that was working ended up on the hood (of the vehicle)." said Fire Captain Ian Langridge at the scene.

Deputy Premier Thomas Lukaszuk's constituency office borders the other side of the hair salon. He said he knows the couple who run the business.

Emergency crews say four people were taken to hospital; the female driver of the car, along with three people from inside the building. It's not yet known what caused the driver to lose control and strike the salon.
