Strathcona RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance to locate a man who allegedly ran over a gas station employee during a gas and dash in Sherwood Park Saturday afternoon.

Mounties responded to the Superstore Gas Bar on Baseline Road at approximately 2:52 p.m. where witnesses told police a man ran over an employee when he attempted to stop the suspect from leaving the gas station without paying.

"He thought that the guy forgot to pay, so he went out there and reached over to tell the guy, ‘you have not paid yet,’ and the guy sped off and dragged him for about three meters,” Gas Bar manager Chu Thai told CTV News.

RCMP said the suspect, described as a white man in his 30s, was last seen driving westbound on Baseline Road towards Sherwood Drive in a 2000-2008 silver four-door Dodge Ram with “extended tow mirrors, black-after-market rims, lowered trailers hitch and unknown decals in the rear window.”

The victim was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

“He’s spoke to me, and he’s well,” Thai said. “He still has surgery to go through. The doctor said he will be on a wheelchair for at least three months or so. When he recovers I believe he would like to come back and work and I would like him to come back and work.”

Anyone with information about this alleged gas and dash is asked to contact Strathcona County RCMP at 780-467-7741. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
