A man is facing charges after barricading himself in his Grande Prairie home for around 12 hours on Sunday, RCMP said.

Mounties responded to a call about a possibly armed man in his residence in the area of Mission Heights.

They contained the scene with the help of police dog services and Edmonton’s emergency response team.

After continuous contact with the man, he peacefully surrendered at 1:35 p.m. and was taken into custody without incident, RCMP said.

Charges are pending.

The man identity will not be revealed, and RCMP will continue to investigate.
