With temperatures set to plunge this weekend, the organizations that care for Edmonton's homeless are busy making sure there's a warm place to go for people who live on the streets.

The Hope Mission has prepared space to house 900 people looking for a place to spend the night.

"Hope Mission has been here for 80 years working in the city of Edmonton, " said Peter Gerber, a spokesperson for the organization. " So folks are aware that there is an opportunity for shelter." However, Gerber added, the organization is still in need of toiletries and warm clothing for the homeless population.

The overnight low on Saturday is forecast to dip to -23 C on Saturday and -28 C on Sunday.
