Albertans will be treated to hundreds of free activities across the province beginning Friday, when the 2012 Alberta Culture Days kicks off.

There are more than 750 events and activities taking place in more than 60 communities across Alberta from Sept. 28 to 30 as part of the province’s fifth annual Culture Days. The activities are meant to showcase Alberta’s culture, heritage and artistic diversity.

In Edmonton, 104 Street and Jasper Avenue will come alive with music, visual arts and food for the Alberta Culture Days Kick-off Block Party taking place from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday rain or shine.

CTV’s own Graham Neil will be performing a free comedy show at the Citadel’s Rice Theatre Friday at 8:30 p.m. as part of the Edmonton Comedy Festival’s contribution to Alberta Culture Days.

Albertans can take part in free dance classes, cooking lessons, lectures, musical shows and much more.

Alberta Culture Days is part of the national Culture Days, a pan-Canadian movement to raise awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts in their communities.
