Winter is coming, and so is the ice castle at Hawrelak Park.
In a partnership between the City of Edmonton and the Silver Lake Festival, construction of this frozen wonderland will begin in November, with the castle expected to be open later December, until March of next year.
“The acre-sized winter wonderland is crafted by hand, using only icicles and water, and resembles organic formations found in nature, like those of frozen waterfalls, glaciers or ice caves,” Bottom Line Productions Inc. said in a press release. \
“Ice Castles are one of the most unique and beautiful places on earth,” said Brent Christensen, the US- based artist who created Ice Castles. “It has been amazing for me to see the transformation from building a small ice structure in my back yard in Utah to the massive interactive sculptures we are building now.”
