Red Deer RCMP is looking for assistance in identifying the suspect in the theft and vandal of a piece of construction machinery.

On Wednesday, July 20 police say an unknown suspect stole a piece of construction equipment, known as a skid-steer, while it was parked in Larratt Close. The suspect then drove it through a construction field on Longmire Close, hit a fire hydrant, and drove it through farm fields until it was abandoned in a hole that was filled with water. The skid-steer, an orange 2012 Case TR270, was valued at almost $50,000 and was written off due to the damage.

RCMP also recovered a red Supercycle SC1800 pedal bike from the location of the skid-steer theft, and believes it may have been used by the suspect.

If you have any information about this incident or the bike found, contact Red Deer RCMP 1-403-343-5575 or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
