Edmonton police are investigating after a series of fires were reported throughout the city’s northeast overnight.

Firefighters were called to a garage fire in the area of 145 Avenue and 83 Street at about midnight – crews were able to put out the flames quickly.

Then, a short time later, crews were called to another garage in the area of 135 Avenue and 64 Street. That fire was also brought under control quickly.

About an hour later, firefighters were called to another fire in a car at 114 Avenue and 89 Street.

The string of fires was unnerving for residents in the area.

“It’s kind of disturbing right when it happens in your neighbourhood, three doors down, it could have been me,” resident Frank Sommer said.

Police couldn’t immediately say if the fires were related – but all are being treated as suspicious.
