Edmonton Fire Rescue officials are investigating a fatal fire in the city’s east end Tuesday morning.

Officials said firefighters were called to the area of 64 Street and 109B Avenue Tuesday at about 10:30 a.m. – over reports of smoke coming from a home.

Crews arrived within five minutes, Edmonton Fire Rescue said, and found a fully involved fire – firefighters tried to get inside the home, but ran into issues inside, due to blocked pathways.

The fire was determined to be under control by 11:24 a.m., and declared out just before 1 p.m.

One person was found dead inside.

Damage is estimated at about $60,000.
