RCMP are investigating a case of arson near the town of Beaumont and confirmed it’s the same home where a man was found murdered on April 25.

Fire crews were called out to the home, located on Highway 625 and Range Road 240, at about 1 a.m. on Friday.

Officials said the house and detached garage were destroyed in the blaze – investigators later determined the fires were deliberately set.

The Leduc General Investigation Section continues to investigate.

Officers were first called to the Leduc County home in April, after it was reported an unresponsive male was inside. Paramedics were also called – but Ryan Ross, 34, of Leduc, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit later charged Gordon Robinson, 32, of Leduc, with first degree murder in connection to the death.

Robinson was scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

Police said Ross was renting the home at the time of his death and don't believe the homeowner had any new tenants.

Anyone with information about the arson is asked to contact Leduc RCMP at 780-980-7267 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
